Happy Fourth of July!

I love the Fourth of July. Partly because of the opportunity do festive summery things. But also because it makes me feel a little connection with the nobler side of American history, which is nice. Someday I'd like to head east and celebrate the fourth on Coney Island, to get the full effect. Almost every member of Brent's and my family decided to go east, just a little bit east, to Utah. And though we would have loved to be there with them, rocking out to Hannah Montana live, we had a really fun fourth here at home.

Danee put together a country fun run, complete with cookies and beaded pins for prizes. It was the perfect way to kick off the day. (Several amazing little kids ran/walked the full 5k, but our two took the easy way out.)
The kids have been dying to see Wall-E, so we went. We all really liked it. After coming home the kids decided to make their own robot costumes, which they did mostly on their own.
What better way to end the day than with strawberry shortcake, fireworks, and friends?
