ate is always so patient about her birthday. She watches us all dote over Danny just days before hers, and watches him open his gifts, and she is always so gracious about waiting for her own day. And I'd forgotten, being with Kate on her birthday is like magic. She wakes up that morning completely determined to be in the best mood and proceeds to be completely delighted by everything all day long until she goes to bed and the spell slowly wears off. For example, she happened to have her name chosen first at school and got to pick out the first dessert, pure luck, and she was so contented that the stars had aligned in her favor. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland came out on her birthday, so we decided to see it. It was so appropriate, since she's been listening to and quoting the book since she was four, and she was Alice for Halloween when she was five.
She had to wait a whole week for her party, so I could recover from the Mario bash, but it was worth the wait. The girls were adorable. They all took turns chanting a cheer for each girl over tea (thanks for the girly tea set, Andrea! I can always count on you for all things feminine and pink) and broke out into spontaneous ring around the rosie. It was little-girl heaven.

Wow - looks like a little girl's dream! Great pictures. The cake looks unreal. And I love Kate's look as she makes her birthday wish with the candles. So nice to share all of this with us, and wonderful memories for her.
